"It is of vital importance that Secretary Rice continues her frequent visits to the region."American policy should now be focused on getting both the Israelis and the Palestinians to accept the peace initiative. The U.S. should use its considerable influence to defuse the vexed problem of the mention of UN Security Council Resolution 194 in the initiative.
Israel, of course, is not bound to accept the conditions laid out in the Arab peace initiative. It would be the base for negotiations, the starting points of the Arab side to be argued over until an eventual acceptable compromise is reached.
