    Jordan Says Displaced Iraqis Cost Government $1 Billion Per Year

    Jordan said Monday that the presence of more than 750,000 displaced Iraqis residing in the country has so far cost the government US$1 billion (€0.7 billion) per year. …

    Jordan and Syria house the bulk of an estimated 2 million displaced Iraqis, including many uprooted before the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. Some 1.9 million Iraqis have also been displaced inside the war-torn country, according to the United Nations refugee agency.
