The head of the UN agency in charge of Palestinian refugees vowed on Tuesday to pursue efforts to rebuild a refugee camp in Lebanon devastated by a 15-week battle between the army and Islamists.
“My message is simple,” Karen Abu Zayd, the commissioner general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), told a press conference after touring Nahr al-Bared on Monday.
“UNRWA stands ready to serve, but we will need the cooperation and goodwill of all concerned as we approach this unprecedented undertaking.”
