The U.S. military said yesterday that Iran was sending "mixed messages" about its intentions in Iraq, cutting back its supply of powerful bombs to Shiite militants, but not reducing training and financing.
Rear Adm. Gregory Smith, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said attacks using Iranian-made "explosively formed penetrators," or EFPs, had fallen in recent days after a sharp increase earlier in the month.
